About
Modifier gene hunter. Our lab focuses on designing and implementing strategies to identify genomic modifiers that may serve as therapeutic targets for lysosomal storage and associated disorders, such as Parkinson's disease. We use population-based approaches in yeast, mice, and humans. Our work has led to the discovery of potential treatments for two lysosomal storage diseases (Niemann-Pick C and neuropathic Gaucher disease), using FDA-approved drugs. Our goal is to design tailored therapies for each patient based on his/her biology. Specialties: Genetics, Cell Biology, Lipid Metabolism, Neurobiology, Hepatology, Animal Models of disease, Neurogenetics, Aging, and Personalized Medicine.
