With a career that spans public service, business, and nonprofits, I lead institutions and initiatives to foster socio-economic progress, support cultural industries and heritage, and catalyze multi-stakeholder partnerships for sustainable development. As Chairperson and President of the American University of Sharjah, I cultivate global citizen graduates and future leaders. To build on Sharjah’s traditional foundations of culture, education, and trade, I am mobilizing investment in new strategic growth sectors, creating a world-class entrepreneurship ecosystem, and promoting R&D. A champion of developing publishing markets, I am committed to building the United Arab Emirates’ publishing sector and advocating for global publishing priorities. I am passionate about taking action on the world’s most pressing challenges - like youth education and employment, female entrepreneurship, small and medium-size enterprise development, expanding funding for the cultural industries, and climate change - through involvement in international organizations.
