About
I am an Associate with the New York office of Linklaters LLP, where I work on the Securitization and Structured Finance team, advising on innovative financing structures for cross-border ABS deals. My interests lie at the intersection of Finance, ESG/Environmental Law and Clean Energy. I am an alumnus of NYU Law, where I was also the University's Student Ambassador to the New York City Bar Association (NYCBA) and a member of the NYCBA's Energy Committee. I am an International Finance Corporation (IFC) Fellow of NYU's IFD Fellowship. Prior to my current role, I worked in Securitization at A&O Shearman where I advised, amongst others, the U.S. Department of Energy on its flagship USD$3 billion solar securitization. I have also worked extensively in Nigeria advising on cross-border deals at the intersection of energy, project finance and environmental regulations, including advising a syndicate of lenders on the dual currency US$650 million financing of the ANOH Gas deal. As part of my volunteer work, in 2015, I founded Earthplus, an environmental nonprofit organization delivering sustainable environmental solutions across Africa through policy influencing. I am a Fellow of both the Barrack Obama Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI) Regional Leadership Center (RLC) Fellowship and the US Carrington Youth Fellowship (CYFI). In 2018, I was one of 50 delegates to the African Union AGYI Ideation Forum in Gaborone, and in 2017, one of 17 delegates from across Africa trained on climate reporting by Climate Tracker in Addis Ababa. In 2016, I was named one of 20 Young Peacebuilders in Africa by the United Nations Alliance of Civilisation (UNAOC). I have spoken at various events on Energy and the Environment including the 2018 African Bar Association Conference in Nairobi and TEDx OAU, where I spoke on alternative uses of plastic waste to produce electricity. In 2018, I won the JCI Ten Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) award for Moral and Environmental Leadership. In April 2019, I was recognized by This Day newspaper as a This Day lawyer and in 2020, I was nominated for The Future Awards Prize for Lawyers (Dubbed "Nobel Prize for Young Africans" by the World Bank). I am an alumnus of two flagship programmes of the Lagos Business School, Pan Atlantic University, one of which I emerged as the best participant. I have written widely on energy, finance and environmental law topics in major national dailies and elsewhere. I am happily married to my sweetheart, Uzoma. In my spare time, I write and perform spoken word poetry and play the piano.
