About

I’m an African optimist; driven by purpose, grounded in service, and deeply committed to building systems that move the continent forward and deliver lasting impact. By day; and with immense pride, I lead the Peace Fund Secretariat at the African Union Commission, a role I wake up every morning grateful to fulfill. Alongside a dedicated team, I’m working to fully operationalize one of Africa’s most ambitious peace financing instruments. Our mission lies at the intersection of diplomacy, resource mobilization, fund management, investment and institutional transformation; anchored in a powerful belief: Africa can, and must, own its peace and security agenda.Previously, I had the honor of serving as Ethiopia’s Minister of Transport and Logistics, where I led transformative initiatives to modernize a sector vital to national development. I also served as a cabinet member of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and as a member of Parliament, bringing citizen-centered policymaking into the heart of governance.I believe leadership should be human, that progress is born of community, and that Africa’s future belongs to those who dare to dream boldly and act practically. Across every stage of my career, I’ve been committed to cultivating excellence, learning continuously, and unlocking opportunity through meaningful collaboration. If you are passionate about peace, policy, fund management, infrastructure development, and logistics or simply want to exchange ideas on African-led solutions and the rich cultures that shape us; I’d love to connect. The work ahead is big, but so is the potential.
