Hi, I'm Mel 👋 I grew up in country Australia, went to a boujee law school on a scholarship and became a leading corporate lawyer without a clerkship, a built-in network or anyone to tell me how any of it actually worked. I spent 15 years figuring it out anyway.Most recently as APAC Head of Legal for a global US SaaS company, leading teams, scaling functions and navigating the parts of legal careers that nobody puts in the graduate handbook: the confidence gaps, the snakes in suits and the identity shifts that happen when the traditional path stops making sense for a modern world. In 2025, I left corporate to build Counsel Media full time. I kept meeting lawyers who were missing the same playbook I had to write myself and figured I was as well placed as anyone to try to fix it. #EldestDaughter Now, I create career resources for lawyers and students who are done with the gatekeeping and ready to build something real and on their own terms.That includes: The Ungatekept Guide to Legal Careers series, endorsed by the Hon.
