After graduating in Economics from Erasmus University Rotterdam in 1991, I started my career at Royal Nedlloyd. I later held various leadership positions at Danzas and DHL, including responsibility for contract logistics across large parts of Europe and for DHL’s most important global customers. From 2009 to 2014, I served as CEO of Damco. In 2014, I joined the Executive Board of Hapag-Lloyd and have served as CEO since July of that year. Since then, Hapag-Lloyd has developed and transformed significantly. We have successfully integrated CSAV and UASC, strengthened and modernised our fleet, expanded our terminal and infrastructure activities, and set a clear course for the future with our Strategy 2030. Today, our colleagues around the world connect businesses, markets and people across 600 ports on all continents. What matters most to me is that we continue to improve the quality and reliability we offer our customers, operate responsibly and build a company that is prepared for the challenges and opportunities ahead. Alongside my role at Hapag-Lloyd, I serve on the boards of Royal Schiphol Group, Stolt-Nielsen and the World Shipping Council. Privately, I live in Hamburg, am the proud father of two wonderful daughters in their twenties, spend most of my private time with family and friends, very much enjoy traveling around the globe, and am a big sports fan.
