Masato Kanda is the 11th President of the Asian Development Bank, a leading multilateral development bank supporting sustainable, inclusive, and resilient growth across Asia and the Pacific. Working with its members and partners, ADB harnesses innovative financial tools and strategic partnerships to transform lives, build quality infrastructure, and safeguard our planet. Before joining ADB, Mr. Kanda held key leadership roles at Japan’s Ministry of Finance, including as Vice-Minister for International Affairs, and brings nearly 40 years of public service experience. He has deep expertise in financial sector policy, macro-fiscal strategy, and international diplomacy. Across Asia and the Pacific, where complex and interconnected challenges abound, Mr. Kanda is driving ADB's efforts to deliver innovative, tailored solutions for its developing member countries, while forging trust-based partnerships that create lasting positive change.
