About

With over 20 years in tech and a proven track record as a Senior Developer Advocate at Amazon Web Services (AWS), I combine deep cloud expertise with a genuine passion for developing the next generation of technologists. As one of South Africa’s pioneering cloud engineers and the first woman from Africa to become an AWS Hero, I’ve spent years demystifying AWS services, building resilient applications, and speaking globally on cloud architecture, serverless, AI/ML, and developer productivity. At AWS, I engage with builders across Sub-Saharan Africa by creating content, running workshops, delivering keynotes, and collaborating on real-world solutions that accelerate innovation. My technical foundation includes multiple AWS certifications (Solutions Architect, Developer, and SysOps Administrator Associate) and hands-on experience in software development, systems analysis, and cloud adoption strategies. What drives me most is talent development. For the past 7+ years, I’ve actively mentored dozens of young professionals, many starting from university level, helping them achieve AWS certifications, land cloud engineering roles, and build confidence in corporate tech environments. Through self-initiated mentoring, SheSharp, and OfferZen Foundation’s Project Thrive, I’ve guided aspiring AWS Cloud Engineers with career strategy, technical upskilling, interview prep, and mindset coaching. Noteable Achievements: First Woman from Africa to be named AWS Hero 2020, Speaker at AWS re:Invent 2022/4, Highest Rated Breakout Session at AWS Summit London 2022, Guest Lecturer at University of Cape Town 2023/4, Guest Lecturer at University of the Western Cape 2024, Keynote at AWS Summit Johannesburg 2024.
